January 2026 Student-Athletes of the Month

Cole Meiser '26 and Brittyn Lybecker '27 have been awarded January 2026's Student-Athletes of the Month.

BRITTYN LYBECKER

Lybecker

Brittyn Lybecker is a member of the Culver Girls Academy (CGA) prep hockey team.

In six games in January, Lybecker recorded eight goals and eight assists with a +8 rating, averaging nearly three points per game.

Lybecker suffered an injury early in the season that had the potential to sideline her for the remainder of the season if her body didn't respond to rehabilitation.

Coach Cory Whitaker said that despite the setback, Lybecker remained engaged with the team and took on various roles to stay involved.

"Even while traveling, she was able to work closely with trainer Ryan Fought on her rehab to make sure she put herself in the best case scenario for a return this season," Whitaker said.

Through consistent rehab efforts, Lybecker returned to the lineup in December.

"No one wants to see an injury, but as an athlete, it does help you develop a certain level of mental fortitude that can positively impact your overall growth," Whitaker said. "Even though the recovery was a slow and frustrating process, Britt handled it with an intense determination to return to the game and team that she loves."

COLE MEISER

Meiser

Cole Mesier is a member of the Culver Military Academy (CMA) wrestling team.

Meiser won all of his matches during the month of January and captured the CMA Invitational title. In January, he also secured his 100th career win, the third most wins in CMA wrestling history.

During the regular season, Meiser was also named Union City Super Dual Champion and Outstanding Wrestler, and won the Mike Atwood Invite in Delphi.

At the IHSAA Sectional in Plymouth, Meiser (138) placed first to advance to the Regional. He went on to place third at Regionals, earning a spot at Semi-State. Coach Patrick Mulkerin said this left Meiser just two wins away from qualifying for the State tournament.

At the Semi-State tournament, Meiser won his opening-round match before falling in a tightly contested second-round match, 5-2. Meiser ended his career with a 33-5 season record.

Congratulations to our January 2026 Student-Athletes of the Month!
