Four eagle wrestlers advance to regionals

Four Culver Military Academy wrestlers – Cole Meiser '26 (133), Abraham Diaz '23 (152), Job Mavrick '26 (220), and Henry Martello '24 (285) – advanced to the IHSAA wrestling regional after placing high enough in the sectional on Saturday.

The sectional round was held at Plymouth High School and featured top wrestlers from Bremen, Culver Community, LaVille, Plymouth, Tippecanoe Valley, Triton, Warsaw, and Wawasee.

Meiser and Martello both claimed second-place finishes, Mavrick got third place, and Diaz got fourth.

CMA's leader in wins this season, Meiser faced off against Wawasee's Cameron Senter in the 113 first place match. Both wrestlers were 26-8 on the season. Meiser lost by technical fall at 4:15.

Martello (25-7) battled hard against Plymouth's Anthony Popi (37-2), but ultimately lost by fall at 3:33. Mavrick (21-6) also put up a fight against Warsaw's Isaac Beam (26-10), but also lost by fall at 2:58. Diaz (12-16) conceded due to injury but wrestled well enough to earn fourth place.

CMA also got top-five finishes from Tyler Laskowski '24 (126) and Michael Patipe '24 (182). Additionally, Mike Smith '23 (170) placed sixth. These three wrestlers had great seasons but did not advance to the regional.

Next up for Culver wrestling is the IHSAA regional at Penn High School on Saturday.
