The Athletic Training Staff often provides the initial evaluation of student-athlete injuries. Many of these injuries are managed by the Athletic Training Staff with records maintained on an injury tracking software such as Medicat Electronic Health Record.
At any time during the evaluation or after a period of treatment, if an injury seems to require further attention, the Athletic Trainer will refer the student-athlete to the Health Center staff. The Culver Academies Supervising Physician or Staff may then determine if the student-athlete needs further evaluation or specialty referral.
***A student-athlete transported to the emergency room for an emergency injury is not a referral. ***
Parents may make an appointment with a Physician of their choosing. However, parents are to go through the Health Center staff to obtain a medical leave for their child. If the parent arranges a physician appointment, the parent may be responsible for transporting their child to the appointment. The parent must also provide all medical documentation to the Health Center staff upon returning their child to campus.
