Policies & Procedures

Below is a brief description of the Policies, Procedures and services provided by the Athletic Training program.  For a more detailed description please contact a member of the athletic training staff.  

Emergency Action Plan (EAP):  The Culver Athletic Training program has a well-developed EAP that is reviewed annually and coordinated with the campus Health Center, Campus Safety and local EMS.

Participation Requirements: Each student-athlete must comply with all Culver Academies rules and regulations regarding participation.  In addition, they must adhere to the rules and regulations of their governing body, such as the IHSAA or USA Rugby, regarding participation and return to participation following an injury.  It is the responsibility of the student-athlete, Athletic Trainers, athletic department, and coaches to ensure that these regulations are being followed.

Event Coverage: Every attempt will be made to provide athletic training coverage at home athletic events.   For away events athletic training coverage will be provided at away events when available and appropriate.   

Concussion Protocol:  Culver Academies offers a comprehensive concussion program for all students from neurocognitive baseline testing, evaluation, academic accommodations, concussion rehabilitation, to a return to play program. 

Skin Disease Action Plan: Culver Academies has a developed policies and procedures in coordination with the campus Health Center and Campus Safety to respond to skin infections outbreaks.  

Weather Emergencies:  Culver Academies take weather conditions seriously and has protocols to respond to weather conditions such as Lightning, Heat, Cold and Tornado’s. 

CPR/AED Expectations for Coaches:  Anyone who coaches at Culver is expected to have CPR/AED certification. 

Comprehensive Care: The Athletic training staff works closely with the school physicians at the Health Center on all matters related to the care and treatment of student-athletes.
