On Saturday, CMA Senior and Princeton Swimming signee
Mitchell Schott became the first Culver swimmer to claim a State Championship. Schott, along with CMA teammates
Sam Tullis,
Cabot Ellert, and
Jacob Maibach, qualified for the IHSAA State Finals as a result of their efforts during the team's
Sectional Championship performance. Diver
Reid Omilian qualified after placing 4
th overall during the diving regional.
Schott earned spots in the 200 and 500 freestyle as an individual, while also taking part in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams alongside Tullis, Ellert, and Maibach.
After having been seeded 3
rd coming out of the preliminary round on Friday, Schott won the 200 freestyle individual event with a time 1:35.48, breaking his own Culver school record. He podiumed in the 500 freestyle as well, taking third-place overall with a time of 4:26.13, trailing first-place by 2.83 seconds.

Though neither relay team advanced to finals, Schott, Tullis, Ellert, and Maibach combined for a school record setting performance in the 200, with an overall time of 1:29.30.
After making his first State Finals appearance during the 2020-21 season, Omilian recorded a three-place improvement during this year's iteration. He placed 11
th overall, good enough for a total of six team points.
Maibach also qualified on the 50 freestyle after claiming first-place at the Sectional meet. He did not advance past the prelims during the State Finals.
