Moira Kelley ‘11 returned to Culver in 2022 as a humanities instructor and assistant coach for the girls’ lacrosse program. A former multisport student-athlete at Culver, Moira discovered lacrosse in the spring of her senior year. Within six weeks of picking up a stick, she earned a starting position and helped lead the team to a state runner-up finish. Moira continued her lacrosse journey at John Carroll University, where she became the program's first-ever captain, leading JCU to one of the most successful inaugural seasons in NCAA Division III history.
Moira also had the opportunity to play lacrosse at the international level as a member of both the University of Hull and Hull City women’s lacrosse teams, in Yorkshire, England.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Moira pursued a Master’s in Irish and American Studies at JCU while competing as a graduate-player on the lacrosse team. She later accepted a teaching fellowship at The Hun School of Princeton, contributing to both their girls’ lacrosse and basketball programs. A Cleveland native, Moira also gained valuable coaching experience at the Beaumont School and Hathaway Brown.
Coach Kelley’s philosophy emphasizes developing well-rounded athletes who excel in skill, strategy, and character. With a strong defensive mindset, she fosters a positive and competitive environment where players are encouraged to embrace challenges, support their teammates, and grow both on and off the field. She highlights the importance of teamwork, resilience, and mastering fundamentals as the keys to success at all levels of competition and motivates her players to explore the potential opportunities of advancing to play at the next level.
