Coach Loehr joined the Academies faculty as a History Fellow and assistant CMA tennis coach in August 1986. He is a native of Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed an extensive junior tennis career in Florida. He is a graduate of Tulane University, where he played collegiately in a reserve role. In 1999, he succeeded longtime head coach Colin Stetson. He also has served as head coach of the CGA tennis program during two different periods, 1989-1995 and 2006-2012. He is a USPTA-certified coach.
CMA Tennis has been ranked consistently in the State Top 30. Since 2004, the team has captured 21 straight sectionals, 18 regional titles, and has made seven State Finals appearances. They were the 2007 team state runner-up. 2016 graduate, Sam Concannon, was the Indiana State Singles Champion.
Coach Loehr is particularly proud to lead a No-Cut program, and that he is one of only two coaches to oversee CMA Tennis in the last 55 years.
