Matt Boland joined the staff at Culver Academies in 2006 as a mathematics instructor and volleyball coach. Prior to coming to Culver Academies, Coach Boland taught science/math and coached volleyball for ten years in Rifle, Colorado. During his coaching tenure he was fortunate to be an assistant coach for a State Finals tournament and the CCGS All-State Team. He held the position of Head JV Volleyball Coach for his first few years at Culver Academies before relieving Coach Elliott as the Head Varsity coach for 3 years. After five years away from coaching, he is excited to once again be working as a team with Coach Elliott.
Coach Boland and his wife, Karen, have four children who have attended Culver Academies. Sarah (CGA ‘14), Hannah (CGA ‘16), Michael (CMA ‘18) and Mary (CGA ’21). Sarah is a graduate of Purdue (BS in Animal Science) and is currently completing her Veterinary Nursing Degree as well. Hannah and Michael are both pursuing Engineering degrees at Purdue as well. Mary hopes to buck the system and attend her parent’s alma mater Colorado State University. The Boland family lives on a small 4-H farm north of Culver and enjoys having students to the home for meals and to visit the animals. Coach Boland enjoys seeing ‘city kids’ learn about the electric fence.
Coach Boland and his wife are actively involved in the Protestant Youth Ministry at Culver Academies. Karen plays with the praise team for Sunday Chapel and both participate in Bible Study on Wednesday evenings and Youth Group on Sunday evenings.
