Debi Trau joined the Culver faculty in 2012 as an instructor of mathematics and head coach of the girls’ lacrosse program. A multisport student-athlete in her preparatory years at Sewickley Academy, Debi went on to compete as a collegiate lacrosse player at Amherst College. After graduation, Mrs. Trau enjoyed a lengthy career in retail management in New England prior to moving back to the independent school world following the birth of her two sons (both of whom went on to play Division I college football).
Ongoing passion for lacrosse led Debi to team with her husband to work for growth of the game in several states before taking the helm with Culver’s program. Time spent as a student of the boys’/men’s game has afforded Debi numerous opportunities for innovation, particularly on the offensive half of the field.
Coach Trau’s philosophy places high value on player development as the ongoing success of Culver’s program depends upon the cultivation of “home-grown” talent along with the refinement of highly experienced players. CGA's career leader in lacrosse victories (100) and win percentage (76%), Debi’s 2013 State Championship run included the most single-season girls lacrosse victories (21) in school history. In 2017, Coach Trau's squad reeled off 17 straight wins before bowing by a single goal in the State Championship Game. During Debi's tenure at Culver, 6 CGA players have been named to the US Lacrosse All America Team and 13 have been recognized for Academic All America honors.
