Major Kevin Green is entering his 13th year as coach for the CMA varsity soccer team, having served the first five years as the assistant to long time coach Jim Brugh. He grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and played his youth, junior, and men's soccer for the Schwaben Athletic Club, rising to the 1st team, until his departure to the Marine Corps. Additionally, he played his college ball at Western Michigan University (1981-1985), where he earned a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Business with minors in General Business and Economics. While in the Marine Corps, he played for six Battalion and Base teams, as well as the All-Marine team in 1991.
Major Green joined the Culver Academies' Military Activities Department in 2007 to serve as the military mentor for the Infantry Battalion, and has also served as the Squadron Mentor, Summer Troop horsemanship instructor, Assistant Commandant for Operations, and is now the Deputy Commandant. Prior to his arrival at Culver Academies, he served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his career, he attended grade level schools focusing on command and staff training; he held command and staff positions in various units and served worldwide.
He holds an "E" license in Coaching from United States Soccer Federation (USSF), a National Diploma and Levels 1-3 Goalkeeping Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly NSCAA), and Level 1, four certificates from the Meulensteen training program.
He and his wife, Tammi, have one son, Thomas, a Woodcraft, ‘13 and CMA, ’18 graduate.
