Over the weekend, CMA U18/Prep hockey traveled to Ontario to take part in the annual MacPherson Hockey Tournament.
CMA was joined by fellow
Prep Hockey Conference members Shattuck St. Mary's, St. Andrew's College, and Northwood in a tough field of competition.
CMA managed a perfect record in pool play, defeating Gilmour (4-2) and Upper Canada College (5-0) on Friday, and a convincing win over St. Andrew's (4-1) on Saturday to earn themselves a match up with Shattuck St. Mary's in semi-final play.
Culver fell to Shattuck 2-4, the eventual tournament champions. The loss resulted in a consolation match up versus St. Andrew's on Sunday morning. Culver would go on to get the best of the second CMA v St. Andrew's as well, defeating the Saints 5-3.
The tournament committee named a Most Valuable Player from each team. Culver's pick was senior forward and NHL Draft watchlist listee
Colin Kessler, who finished the tournament with three goals and three assists. Kessler's six points on the weekend were good for third overall in the tournament.
CMA Prep Hockey is currently 17-15 on the year, and currently ranked No. 14 nationally according to myhockeyrankings.com. They will host No. 5 Bishop Kearney this Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm and 12:00pm, respectively.
