Dr. Doug Bird, Head of Schools at Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana, and
Kevin Cox, Athletic Director, are pleased to announce the appointment of
Kevin Patrick as the Boys' Hockey Program Manager. He will oversee all aspects of the boys' hockey program and will serve as the head coach of the CMA Prep team.
Patrick, his wife, Julie, and sons James and John, will move to Culver from South Burlington, Vermont, where he coached at the University of Vermont. Kevin coached there for eight years, including five as the associate head coach. The Catamounts logged multiple 20-win seasons during his stay and developed a reputation as being one of the top defensive teams in the country.
Patrick graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1988, where he later coached and taught. Patrick was a four-year hockey player at Notre Dame and captained the Fighting Irish his final two years. He later earned a master's degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts.

After playing professional hockey for a year, Patrick returned to Deerfield Academy to launch his coaching career. After five years of combined experience at Deerfield and in Junior Hockey, Patrick embarked on a distinguished collegiate hockey coaching career. Before joining the coaching staff at Vermont, Patrick was an assistant coach at Union College, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Wisconsin, Patrick was part of a national championship team and a national runner-up. He was also a head coach in the United States Hockey League and was an assistant coach in 2015 for the USA National Junior Team at the IIHF World Junior Championships. Patrick has coached a Hobey Baker Award winner, and he has coached or recruited 55 NHL players during his career. In addition, he has taken leadership roles in the American Hockey Coaches Association, including serving on the Board of Governors, and has been active in USA Hockey.
"
Kevin Patrick embodies the traits that are the core of Culver," Bird said. "He has consistently inspired young people to be of high character and to achieve in life, as well as to achieve in hockey. He understands and advocates the value of a great education. He embraces the opportunity to influence the character development of all students on campus."
"Coach Patrick has coached and played hockey at a high level," Cox said. "He is a skilled tactician with demonstrated ability in developing individual hockey skills. We are extremely excited about the future of our hockey program under his leadership."

Our teams compete in the John W. Henderson Ice Arena. Only a five-minute walk from students' living quarters, this facility provides year-round access to one NHL-sized rink and one Olympic-sized rink. Currently, the Henderson Ice Arena is home to four boys' teams and one girls' team.
