This weekend, CMA Tennis team member
Niko Warnholtz will travel to Park Tudor School in Indianapolis to compete in the
IHSAA Boys Tennis Individual State Tournament.
The berth is a result of Warnholtz remaining undefeated during 2019 post-season team play. The CMA Tennis team's season concluded on October 12
th as a result of a
4-1 loss to Munster. Warnholtz was 14-4 in 2019 regular season matches, and managed to amass more than 60 wins since his high school career began in 2016.
As a four-year varsity letter winner, Warnholtz has been in the singles line up since the beginning of his Culver Tennis career. During his freshmen season, he predominately played in the singles No. 3 spot, and then the No. 2 spot in 2017. In the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Warnholtz helped lead the team to back-to-back IHSAA Boys Tennis Team State Finals appearances. Additionally, he earned First Team All-State designation in 2018 campaign.
"Niko has earned a spot among Culver's finest tennis players," said
Alan Loehr, who is concluding his 21st season as head coach of the program. "While I'm pleased with his tennis achievements, I am equally proud of the growth he has manifested in terms of maturity and character development. I am confident he will represent Culver exceptionally well in the State Finals and, no matter the outcome, his friends, family, teachers, and coaches will take pride in all that he has accomplished during an outstanding Culver career."
